This vigorous, easily grown, high yielding variety is justifiably the most widely planted gooseberry variety.
The berries are large, oval, smooth skinned and ripen to a pale yellow colour. Flavour when both green and fully ripe is excellent. The growth is very vigorous, spreading and thorny; the variety rapidly reaches its full potential as a bush and can be successfully grown on wires.

Problems: Gooseberry Sawfly, Birds, some resistance to American Gooseberry mildew but is vulnerable to Phytophtoria infection.
